What Is Clickidy? ◢

A little arcade of quick web games you can finish in about thirty seconds. Reflex tests, quizzes, codes and ciphers, and one puzzle a day. No sign-up, no account, no email box.

That last part is the whole design, not a feature list. Everything else follows from it.

Key Takeaways

  • Four kinds of game: reflex tests you can measure, quizzes that type or score you, codes and ciphers you can encode with, and a daily puzzle.
  • No accounts anywhere. Your scores and streaks live in your browser's local storage, not on our servers.
  • Every game is playable in roughly thirty seconds, which is the constraint everything is designed around.
  • Nothing is based on copyrighted characters or trademarked instruments. Generic categories and public-domain frameworks only.

What is actually here?

Fast tests. Things you can measure about yourself in five seconds. The flagship is the Click Speed Test, which counts clicks per second; the Reaction Time Test times how fast you respond to a colour change. Most people land around 6 to 7 clicks per second, and simple visual reaction time averages about 250 ms in healthy young adults, so you have something to measure against straight away.

A grid of blank tilted cards, the sticker wall the whole site is arranged as.

Quizzes. Short typed and scored quizzes built on public-domain frameworks with questions we wrote. No trademarked instruments, and results reported as bands or types rather than invented precise numbers.

Codes and ciphers. Working translators rather than trivia: Morse, binary, NATO phonetic, braille, Roman numerals, Caesar, Atbash and more. Type something in and watch it convert, in both directions.

Daily. One puzzle a day, the same one for everybody, with a streak that resets if you miss. Currently a flag a day.

There are also country factsheets and a set of longform stories about real unsolved ciphers, for when you fall down the hole rather than just passing through.

Why is there no sign-up?

Because a thirty-second game does not justify an account, and most sites that ask for one are not doing it for your benefit.

The practical consequence is that we hold almost nothing about you. There is no name, no email and no password, so there is nothing to leak and nothing to sell. Your best scores and your streak live in your browser's local storage; clear your browser data and they are genuinely gone, because there is no copy anywhere else.

What we do keep is aggregate and anonymous: counts of how many games were played and rough distributions of results. None of it attaches to a person. Today it is only there so that the published norms your score is compared against can eventually be replaced with numbers measured here, and until that happens the site says so rather than inventing them.

The trade-off is honest and worth stating: you cannot carry a streak between devices, because there is no account to carry it.

Who makes it?

Clickidy is built and run by QANT Pty Ltd, an Australian technology company. It is ad-supported, which is why it is free, and that is the entire business model.

There are a few things we will not do, and they are worth naming because plenty of sites in this category do them. No games built on copyrighted characters or trademarked properties. No quizzes pretending to be validated psychological instruments. No fabricated statistics dressed up as research. No email gate between you and a result you already earned.

An arrow cursor with ripples spreading from its tip, the click the brand is named for.

Where should you start?

If you have thirty seconds: the Click Speed Test. It is the flagship, it needs no explanation, and you will immediately want another go.

If you have five minutes: the Codes and Ciphers console, which is a real tool rather than a game and quietly the most useful thing here.

If you want to come back tomorrow: the Daily, which is the only thing on the site that is rationed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Clickidy free?

Yes, entirely, and there is no paid tier. The site is funded by advertising, which is the whole business model. Nothing is gated behind a payment or a sign-up.

Do I need an account to play?

No, and there is no way to make one. Every game works immediately with no name, email or password. Your scores and streaks are stored in your browser rather than on our servers.

Where are my scores saved?

In your browser's local storage, on your own machine. That means they do not follow you to another device or another browser, and clearing your browsing data deletes them permanently, because no copy exists anywhere else.

How long does a game take?

About thirty seconds. That is the design constraint everything here is built around, from the five-second reflex tests to the five-question quizzes. The cipher tools are open-ended, but nothing requires a commitment.

What kind of games are on Clickidy?

Four kinds: reflex tests that measure something about you, short quizzes, working code and cipher translators, and one daily puzzle. There are also country factsheets and longform stories about real unsolved ciphers.
