Sudan

Straddling the Nile in northeast Africa, Sudan quietly holds more ancient pyramids than Egypt, clustered around the ruins of the once-mighty Kingdom of Kush.

WHAT THE FLAG MEANS ◢

Three horizontal bands of red, white and black with a green triangle at the hoist, the Pan-Arab colours. The 2019 constitutional document has no flag provision. The red is conventionally read for the struggle and its martyrs, the white for peace and optimism, the black for the country's name and for the earlier black flag of the Mahdist revolution, and the green for Islam and prosperity.
