AFRICAFlag of Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe

A southern African country named after the stone-walled ruins of Great Zimbabwe, home to spectacular Victoria Falls and some of the continent's richest wildlife reserves.

WHAT THE FLAG MEANS ◢

Seven horizontal stripes of green, yellow, red and black, mirrored about the centre, with a white triangle at the hoist bearing a red star and the golden Zimbabwe Bird. Section 4 of the constitution provides for the national flag and the First Schedule prescribes it by depicting it, with no descriptive text and no meanings. The green is conventionally read for agriculture, the yellow for mineral wealth, the red for the blood of independence and the black for the majority population, with the white triangle for peace and the red star for revolution. The bird is the soapstone Zimbabwe Bird from Great Zimbabwe, the national emblem.
